Man charged in knife attack at embassy deported

A man who attacked three people with a knife at the Embassy of Togo in 2009 has been deported, according to Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials.

ICE said in a statement that 34-year-old Kokou Dzifa Bocco was deported back to the West African country on Monday. Bocco committed the attack after he was told he would have to wait to get a new passport, court records say.

He was sentenced earlier this year to time served, which was about 15 months. An immigration judge ordered in September that he be deported, ICE said.

Man gets 5 years for threatening MontCo officials

A man has been sentenced to five years behind bars for threatening Montgomery County public officials after he lost a child-custody case.

Michael Moment, 49, sent letters saying “contracts” had been placed on the lives of two Montgomery County judges, the state’s attorney, the Circuit Court clerk and the county executive’s daughter in April 2010. He sent the letters because he was unhappy with the resolution of a child-custody case, authorities said.

He was convicted in an August jury trial. Moment was prosecuted in Prince George’s County to avoid a conflict of interest.

A former senior U.S. Postal Service executive was sentenced to two years in prison for accepting $15,000 in bribes.

Ron Middlebrooks, 47, accepted the cash from a businessman who was working with law enforcement in December 2010 and January 2011, according to federal prosecutors in the District. Middlebrooks promised he would reward the businessman with government contracts, according to court records.

At the time, Middlebrooks was the Postal Service’s director of international civilian and military transportation networks and was based in D.C.
