Fairfax Co. man charged with shooting wifeA 43-year-old man has been charged with shooting his wife in their Chantilly home.
Police said Tony Tong shot Katherine Tran, 43, in their home on the 13800 block of Rembrandt Way at about 3 a.m. Friday.
Tran suffered a gunshot wound to the upper body, Fairfax County police said.
Tong is being treated at a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. He was involved in a fight with another family member at the home before authorities arrived, police said.
Tong has been charged with murder.
33-year sentence for murder of witness
A D.C. man was sentenced to 33 years in prison for killing a prosecution witness in a case against the man’s brother.
John Foreman, 20, was sentenced in the shooting death of 19-year-old Arthur Gale in October 2008.
Foreman’s brother, Maurice Foreman, was arrested after a Charles County shootout in July 2008. Gale and others told authorities that Maurice Foreman possessed a firearm, and John Foreman believed Gale was the prosecution’s main witness against his brother.
Man sentenced in attack on police officer
A 38-year-old Fredericksburg, Va., man was sentenced to 29 years in prison for trying to rob and then shooting an off-duty D.C. police officer in December 2003.
Eddie L. Mathis Jr. was convicted of assault and weapons charges by a D.C. Superior Court jury in July.
He was found guilty of attacking Officer Devinci Wooden when Wooden stopped at a gas station in Southeast D.C.
Mathis fled the gas station after a shootout, in which he was shot in the waist. He was found in a nearby apartment.
