Sex workers arrested

One pimp and 15 prostitutes were arrested in the District, Fairfax County and Alexandria as part of a nationwide three-day crackdown on the sexual exploitation of children that resulted in the finding of more than 60 children, the FBI announced Monday.

In Maryland, authorities rescued two juveniles and arrested 14 adult prostitutes, officials said.

Around the nation, 69 children were removed from prostitution and 99 suspected pimps were arrested in 40 cities across 30 states and D.C., the FBI said. Another 785 adults were also arrested on a variety of state and local charges.

Gun brought to school fight

Montgomery County police said two Springbrook High School students are facing charges after pulling a gun during a fist fight behind the school.

Police said the two students were fighting near the school in the White Oak area of Silver Spring on Thursday when a third student pulled out a gun. The crowd scattered, but police said the gun was handed to one of the teens in the fight and he chased several students with it.

Tavon Body, 17, of Burtonsville was charged as an adult with assault, reckless endangerment and a weapons offense. Police were looking for the second student, Ladonta Wright, 17, of Burtonsville, and believe he is in Virginia.

Teen gets probation for Metrobus joyride

A D.C. teenager was placed on probation for dressing up like a Metrobus driver and stealing a bus before crashing it.

William Jackson, 19, admitted that on July 9, he snuck into lot in Northeast Washington, boarded a bus and began picking up and dropping off passengers around D.C. The joy ride ended when he lost control of the bus and it crashed into a tree along 17th Street Southeast.

After the crash, Jackson tried to leave the scene and took off his bus operators shirt. Jackson was stopped by transit police. He pleaded guilty to one count of unauthorized use of a vehicle.
