Police ID man run over in armed robbery

Prince George’s County police have identified a man who was run over during an attempted robbery.

The victim is 30-year-old Bradford McCoy, of Landover, police spokesman Cpl. Larry Johnson said.

Early Sunday morning, McCoy and three other people were outside a vehicle on the 1200 block of Oates Street when masked robbers with handguns forced them to lie on the ground. A woman who was in a vehicle tried to drive away and ran over McCoy, Johnson said.

McCoy was pronounced dead at the scene.

P.G. man found dead in car in Waldorf

The Charles County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the apparent homicide of a Prince George’s County man found in a car.

The victim has been identified as 32-year-old Michael Eugene Milstead Jr., of Oxon Hill, authorities said.

Shortly after 11:30 a.m. Sunday, officers found a vehicle several yards off the road near Piney Church Road and St. Linus Drive in Waldorf. Milstead was dead inside the car and appeared to have been slain, authorities said.

Milstead’s body was taken to a medical examiner’s office so that his exact cause of death can be determined.

Postal worker pleads guilty to embezzling $43k

A U.S. post office worker pleaded guilty Monday to embezzling more than $43,000 from the Postal Service.

Virgil E. Ball, 59, of Waldorf, worked as a clerk at the processing center in Capitol Heights. He admitted to taking about $34,180 in cash and $9,000 in checks that was to be delivered by armored car to the bank.

Ball pleaded guilty to a count of embezzlement at the U.S. District Court in Greenbelt and faces up to 10 years in prison, federal prosecutors said.
