Man arrested in Wheaton mall carjacking, kidnappings

A suspect has been arrested in the three armed carjackings and kidnappings at a mall in Wheaton.

Fifty-year-old Henry Levi Sanders, of Landover, has been charged with multiple counts of kidnapping and robbery.

Police said Sanders used a box cutter to carjack at least three men from the Westfield Wheaton shopping center, and forced them to withdraw money from an automated teller machine. The incidents occurred last Wednesday and Saturday and Sunday. In one incident the victim was cut and beaten.

Police received tips, that led them to Sanders. He was captured outside his home Tuesday evening. Sanders remained in custody Wednesday.
