Body never found of Md. man abducted in ’03

Lamarst A. Porter was shot and abducted near his Severn, Md., home in 2003, according to police.

Authorities have said the attack was likely fatal. But many questions remain unanswered: Porter’s body has never been found — he is still listed in state and national missing-person databases — and his abductors have never been identified.

He was last seen on the 1700 block of Severn Tree Boulevard around 1:30 a.m. on Sept. 18, 2003. He was with two men who apparently shot him and forced him into his 1991 Lincoln Mark VII and fled the area, according to Anne Arundel County police.

The vehicle was found in Glen Burnie a few days later, but Porter remained missing.

Police are investigating Porter’s disappearance as a homicide, but say the case has gone cold.

Porter graduated from Meade High School in 2002. He hadn’t figured out what he wanted to do and was working at Fort Meade, clearing tables, the Baltimore Sun reported in 2007.

When he was abducted, Porter was planning to enroll at Anne Arundel Community College for the spring semester, his mother told the newspaper.

After years of no progress in the case, his family asked a court to declare him legally dead in 2005.

Porter would be 26 now. At the time of his disappearance, he was 5 feet 6 inches tall and 175 pounds, according to the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System. He had black hair and brown eyes. Porter had two tattoos — one that read “MOE” and one of a skull — on his left forearm. His dental information has been entered into the NamUs system, so it can be compared with the records of unidentified people.

Police say the case is still open and detectives are looking for witnesses. Anyone with information can call the Maryland Center for Missing Children at 800-637-5437, police at 410-22-3456 or Crime Stoppers at 866-756-2587.
