A Silver Spring man has been charged in two armed robberies of Wheaton businesses.
Montgomery County police said 19-year-old Jeremiah McLeod is accused of robbing the Cricket Wireless located at 11921 Georgia Ave. on Aug. 25 and the Hollister store in Westfield Wheaton Shoppingtown on Sept. 7.
He brandished a handgun in both robberies, police said, but no one was injured in either incident. The two stores are slightly more than a mile apart.
Police obtained video surveillance of the Hollister robbery, and that footage helped detectived identify McLeod as a suspect, said Officer Howard Hersh, a police spokesman.
Police said McLeod confessed to the two robberies when interviewed by officers.
