Hylton to step in as acting chief of Pr. George’s Police Department

When Prince George’s County Police Chief Melvin C. High steps down Aug. 31, he’ll be temporarily replaced by the county’s assistant police chief, Roberto Hylton, 50.

HYLTON FACTS

» Birthplace: Panama

» Career:  Prince George’s County police officer for 22 years and a command officer since 1993. In 2003 he was promoted from his command of the District I station in Hyattsville to deputy police chief of the Bureau of Support Services. He is a certified Maryland police training instructor and certified hostage negotiator.

» Education: Has a Master of Science in Management degree from Johns Hopkins and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from Columbia Union College.

» Family: Married with two children.
