U.S. marshals are searching for a 31-year-old man whom they say is armed and dangerous, and has ties to a District of Columbia gang.
Omar Garris has long been surrounded by violence, law enforcement officials said.
His father is in prison, serving a sentence for a murder conviction in the District from the early 1980s. Garris has a brother who was murdered in 2007.
Garris is wanted by Prince George’s County on two attempted murder chargers and a parole violation stemming from a weapons possession conviction. Garris has previously been charged with murder, attempted murder and distribution of narcotics.
He is a member of the District’s 1-7 Crew, which is known for its violence and cocaine distribution rings. He also has ties to Fort Washington, Southeast and Northeast.
Garris has been on the run since June 2007. He is 5-foot-6 tall and weighs about 144 pounds.
“Let’s get Garris before he hurts someone else,” a U.S. marshal said.
Anyone with information should call the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force at 301-489-1717.
