A Woodbridge man was arrested after he allegedly tried to give another person what appeared to be an explosive device, police said.
Jerrold Long Feuchtwanger, 34, is charged with manufacturing an hoax explosive device, according to Prince William Police.
A caller told police that Thursday morning, he encountered Feuchtwanger in the 14100 block of Aden Road in Nokesville and Feuchtwanger tried to hand him what appeared to be an explosive device. When the caller refused to accept the device, Feuchtwanger put it in a ditch and walked away.
Authorities found Feuchtwanger in the area of Aden Road and Parkgate Drive and detained him, police said.
A Virginia State Police unit determined that the device was inert.
