The slaying of a Fort Washington couple early Tuesday may be connected to a deadly shooting outside a D.C. nightclub, according to police.
Keith Jordan, 44, and his fiancé, Audrey Bryant, 49, were killed inside a home on the 4000 block of Oaklawn Road around 1 a.m., just 35 minutes after a man was killed 10 miles away outside Club Pure, on the 1300 block of T Street NW.
The victim in the District shooting was identified as 25-year-old Carl Ashton O’Neil Gray Fitzgerald, an aspiring rapper, and police believe he may have known Bryant’s sons.
Bryant’s sons produced rap music at the Fort Washington home, and one of her children may have been performing at Club Pure with Fitzgerald, according to a police source.
Prince George’s County Police Chief Roberto Hylton called the double murder a “target assassination,” although he said detectives have not determined whether the couple were the intended targets. Hylton said it appeared there were multiple suspects and at least two weapons used in the shootings.
“Both departments are pursuing substantial leads,” Hylton said.
About 1 a.m. Tuesday, Jordan placed a 911 call to Prince George’s County dispatchers, police said. Police found Jordan on the upper staircase of the house and Bryant in a rear bedroom. Both suffered gunshot wounds to the upper body.
Bryant was pronounced dead on the scene. Jordan was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
At about 12:30 a.m., D.C. police patrolling near the U Street Metro station heard gunshots in the area of 13th and T streets. Police canvassed the area and found Fitzgerald, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene. Police were looking for a black or dark-colored sport utility vehicle that was seen speeding away from the scene.
