The U.S. Marshals Service will charge all four inmates with escaping from a federal prison, which carries a punishment of up to five years in prison. They will be required to serve out their new sentences, in addition to the federal sentences they were serving prior to their escape, if convicted.
The satellite camp at FCC Petersburg is a minimum-security facility and holds 185 male offenders. The bureau has faced scrutiny in recent years for inmate escapes.
