A man has been charged in a stabbing death in Silver Spring, police said.
Hugo Rodriguez, 38, of Silver Spring, was charged with first-degree murder, according to Montgomery County police.
The incident occurred shortly before 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at an apartment at 8060 13th St. Rodriguez and 35-year-old Thomas Harvey, who knew each other, were involved in a dispute that turned into a physical altercation in which they were both armed with knives. Rodriguez stabbed Harvey, who was taken to a hospital and died, police said.
Witnesses told authorities that they saw Rodriguez fleeing while armed with a knife. Officers stopped Rodriguez nearby, police said. The knife was found in a storm drain not far from where Rodriquez was detained.
Rodriguez is being held without bond and is scheduled for bond review Thursday afternoon.
