Ex-Wizard arrested in L.A. on murder charge

Former Washington Wizard Jarvis Crittenton was arrested on murder charges late Monday before boarding a plane at a Los Angeles airport, authorities said.

Crittenton, who was suspended from the NBA for having guns in the Wizards locker room in downtown Washington during his dispute with teammate Gilbert Arenas, was wanted on a federal arrest warrant in the murder of Jullian Jones, 22, in Atlanta. Police said Jones was not the intended target.

Atlanta police said the motive appears to have been payback for a robbery in which Crittenton was a victim.

His lawyer said Crittenton was not guilty of the slaying and was boarding a plane to Atlanta to turn himself in late Monday night.

Janitor pleads to VA Hospital burglary

A former janitor at the Veterans Administration Hospital in D.C. has pleaded guilty to burglarizing his former workplace.

Anthony Maye, 55, of Washington, pleaded to two burglaries at the hospital at 50 Irving St. NW, where he had worked since March 2009. He faces 15 years for each charge.

According to prosecutors, Maye spray painted video surveillance cameras, pried open several safes and stole the contents from inside. Veterans Administration police executed a search warrant on Maye’s car and found burglary tools and a suspiciously large amount of Metro fare cards and Metrobus fare tokens.

Maye admitted to committing burglaries at the hospital on seven other occasions over the last year.
