Montgomery County police looking for vandalism, hate crime suspects

Police in Montgomery County are asking for the public’s help in identifying those who vandalized cars and property in Bethesda with offensive markings.

Police say a series of vandalism incidents occurred overnight from Feb. 16 to Feb. 17 in the Woodhaven neighborhood of Bethesda.

Officers responded to a call at about 3:15 a.m. on Feb. 17 to the 6700 block of Melody Lane where they found a vehicle and parts of a property had been spray painted. Profanity and images of male genitalia were on the vehicle.

Also in the area, police found a police K-9 vehicle had been tagged as well with anti-gay comments, profanity and a swastika.

Later in the morning, officers responded to two other vandalism reports in the 8200 block of Wahly Drive where suspects had painted a light post and a large landscaping rock, which has a swastika on it.

Police are asking anyone with information to call (301) 657-0112, and are offering a $2,000 reward.
