Sex assaults reported at D.C. jobs program Two teenagers reported that they were sexually assaulted in the past week while at jobs that are part of the District’s Summer Youth Employment Program. A staff member of the city’s employment agency is facing charges.

One incident happened at the agency’s headquarters on the 4000 block of Minnesota Ave. NE on Wednesday; the other happened at Anacostia Senior High School on Friday, officials said.

Officer Anthony Clay, a D.C. police spokesman, said 54-year-old Thomas Nelson is charged with second-degree touching of a minor by a person in authority in connection with the Wednesday incident.

Officials said at a news conference Friday that Nelson worked for the District’s Department of Employment services and has been placed on administrative leave.

The incident at the southeast high school happened Friday, when a girl was inappropriately touched by a contractor, authorities said. No one has been arrested.

3 killed in Southeast crash

Three people were killed in an early-morning crash in Southeast D.C., police said.

The crash happened when a woman lost control of her Mitsubishi Galant after speeding over a speed bump near 13th Street and Mississippi Avenue SE at about 2 a.m., police said. The vehicle overturned, ejecting three people, and hit two trees.

The driver and two male passengers died from injuries suffered in the accident. A female passenger is in serious condition.

Their names were not released.

Fatal shooting in D.C.

A man was fatally shot early Saturday in Southeast D.C.

D.C. police said the man was killed on the 600 block of 46th Place SE at about 1:40 a.m.

The man’s name has not been released.

No arrests have been made.
