Five charged after suspected meth lab found in Md. hotel

Five men were arrested after officers busted a suspected methamphetamine lab in a Maryland hotel.

Howard County police said authorities received a report of a strange odor inside a room at a Holiday Inn Express on the 6000 block of Marshalee Drive in Elkridge at about 10:40 p.m. Monday.

At the hotel, officers smelled a strong odor in the fourth-floor room and saw chemicals inside, police said. Five men who had been staying in the room were arrested: Josiah Marin, 23, of North Carolina; Forrest Rhoades, 34, of Oklahoma; Joshua Matthews, 33, of Oklahoma; Amos Martin, 20, of Michigan; and Spencer Smith, 22, of Pennsylvania.

Police said the men were traveling through Maryland for work and were manufacturing meth because they couldn’t find the drug locally.

The five were charged with drug manufacturing, drug posession and possession with intent to distribute.
