Police arrested Quindell Glen Mercer, 34, on charges of first- and second-degree murder in the slaying of Patricia Smith Mercer-Harris, 56, and Frank Lamar Harris Jr., 20. Mercer was being held without bond.
Mercer was arrested Monday at an apartment in the 6600 block of District Heights after he was seen throwing a book bag containing four handguns from a bedroom window, police said. One of the guns was a Desert Eagle .45 caliber handgun. The ballistics of the Desert Eagle matched the weapon used in the double homicide, police said.
Mercer was the son of Mercer-Harris and the half-brother of Frank Harris Jr., police said.
The mother and son suffered multiple gunshot wounds and were discovered by Frank Harris Sr. on Aug. 4.
