Mail carrier who stole golf survey is fired from course
A postal worker caught stealing mail after he filled out a stolen golf survey and mailed it in was fired Thursday morning from his new job at the Trump National Golf Club in Potomac Falls, the club’s general manager said.

William Seville filled out the golf survey in March. The Examiner reported Seville’s guilty plea and his job at the golf club Thursday.
General manager Bill O’Connor said he fired Seville after learning of his conviction from The Examiner. But Seville’s attorney wrote in court filings that he was a valued employee “evidenced by his being kept on as an employee even after disclosing his conviction.”
Fatal stabbing could be hate crime
D.C. police are investigating the stabbing of two men, one fatally, as a possible hate crime.
Police said Joshua Mack and Darius Queen were attacked about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday by a man in dark clothing. Mack was killed.
Sources close to the investigation said the men were transgendered and the suspect uttered an anti-gay slur during the attack.
Man killed in D.C. police shooting
D.C. police are investigating a police-involved shooting that left one man dead early Thursday.
Police said the officer was responding to a man with a gun on the 3300 block of Benning Road NE and was confronted by the man. Police said the officer told the man to drop his weapon, but the man failed to comply. The officer, a five-year veteran, was placed on routine administrative paid leave.
Boy pulled from Potomac dies
A 13-year-old boy who was pulled from the Potomac River earlier this week has died, Maryland police said.
Dante E. Burns, of West Virginia, was swimming with a 14-year-old friend near Williamsport on Tuesday when he disappeared underwater.
Police said a nearby fisherman dove in and found Dante in about 8 feet of water after the older boy became exhausted trying to save him.
