Man charged with stabbing girlfriend, her son

A man was arrested for allegedly stabbing his girlfriend and her 18-year-old son in an apartment building in Anne Arundel County, officials said, and another man was arrested for allegedly firing a gun outside the building.

Timothy Lee Styles, 44, and his 37-year-old girlfriend were involved in an argument at about 10 p.m. Saturday inside her apartment in the 300 block of Highland Drive, Glen Burnie, police said. Styles picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed his girlfriend and her son, police said. The victims were taken to hospitals, where they were treated and released.

When officers arrived at the scene, Styles was detained for questioning. He became combative with police and was Tased, police said.

Styles is charged with two counts of attempted second-degree murder, two counts each of first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct and failure to obey a lawful order, according to the Anne Arundel County Police Department.

At about the same time period as the stabbing, a friend of the 18-year-old victim, Lorenzo Derrick Hall, fired a handgun into the air outside the apartment, although police do not know why. Hall, 19, is charged with first- and second-degree assault, disorderly conduct, reckless endangerment and four handgun violations, police officials said.
