District men convicted in teen killing

Two D.C. men were convicted of the first-degree murder of a teenager in Northwest Washington.

Kwan Kearney and Jeremy Risper, both 21, face 30 years to life in prison for the killing of 19-year-old Jamal Wilson on Nov. 14, 2010.

Wilson’s slaying was the second murder committed by Kearney within six days. Kearney was sentenced last month to 60 years in prison for the slaying of 17-year-old honor roll student Joseph Sharps Jr.

According to prosecutors, Kearney and Risper got into a dispute with Wilson because he and other friends of Kearney’s refused to help Wilson in a fight.

Kearney and Risper chased Wilson and his friends through several alleys before ending in a shoot-out near the 100 block of P Street NW. Prosecutors said Kearney shot Wilson through the heart.

Man charged in D.C. slaying

A Northeast D.C. man was formally charged this week in a December murder, D.C. police said.

Raymond Faunteroy, 26, was arrested in Arlington on March 13 and was formally charged with first-degree murder while armed on Tuesday in the District, police said.

About 6 p.m. on Dec. 19, police responded to the 1000 block of Taylor Street NE and found 19-year-old Derrick Ragland suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, police said. He was taken to a hospital, where he died.

Fatal crash victim identified

Police have identified the victim in a fatal crash as 56-year-old Robert Bittner.

Bittner, of Ashburn, was driving a 1999 Toyota Camry that crashed on the Fairfax County Parkway around 1 p.m. Tuesday, Fairfax County Police said.

Bittner had driven off the roadway just past Franklin Farms Road and then hit the sound barrier wall. Passersby got Bittner out of the car, and then it caught fire, police said. He died at a hospital.
