A D.C. man who escaped from a Maryland jail was arrested in southwest Virginia, U.S. marshals said.
Deandre Kelly, 29, has been on the run since January after he allegedly used what appeared to be a gun to force two officers to set him free, authorities said.
Kelly, who has drug and gun convictions, has twice been featured as a “Most Wanted” fugitive in The Washington Examiner. Marshals deputies got a tip late last month that Kelly was hiding in southwest Virginia, and teamed up with police from that area to track him to an apartment in Bedford, said Matt Burke of the Capital Area Regional Task Force.
The 6-foot, 275-pound Kelly refused to come out of the apartment Monday, so a police dog was sent in, Burke said — and Kelly agreed to surrender.
