Military police officer pleads guilty in Craigslist robberies

An Air Force staff sergeant has pleaded guilty to robbing people at gunpoint after posting ads on Craigslist and then meeting up with the prospective “customers.”

Deshawn Derr, 25, pleaded guilty in federal court in Alexandria on Wednesday to charges of conspiracy to commit robbery and using a firearm in a violent crime.

According to court documents, he and another man would pretend on Craigslist to be selling iPhones, tell prosepective buyers to bring cash to a meeting and then rob the customers at gunpoint.

Court records say they committed two robberies in June, one in Arlington County and one in Fairfax County.

At the time, Derr was assigned to Andrews Air Force Base as a military police officer.

The case against 41-year-old David Ramsey, the other man charged in the scheme, is still pending.
