The Blotter: Alleged gang member wanted in Silver Spring slaying

Reward for gang member accused in 2010 slaying Montgomery County Police are looking for an 18-year-old gang member who is wanted in the shooting death of a 27-year Silver Spring man.

Tyshon Lateek Jones is wanted for the slaying Julian Kelly, who was gunned down during an armed robbery in the 1400 block of Castle Boulevard on Aug. 21, 2010. Jones is a member of the 38 MOB criminal street gang and should be considered armed and dangerous, police said.

He is described as 6-feet tall and 165 pounds with a tattoo on his neck.

A reward of $5,000 is being offered for information that leads to his arrest. Anyone with information can call 1-866-411-TIPS or (240) 773-8477.

Jail guard pleads guilty in smuggling scheme

A former D.C. corrections officer pleaded guilty to accepting bribes in exchange for smuggling cell phones and marijuana into jail for inmates.

Twenty-three-year-old Ryan Motley, of Greenbelt, pleaded guilty in D.C. Superior Court and faces up to 12 years in prison. He is accused of bringing in 10 cell phones and sneaking in marijuana at least six times for inmates.

In exchange he accepted about $1,800 in cash.

Motley was stopped at the jail entrance by a fellow corrections officer after finding cell phones and cell phone chargers in Motley’s protective vest.

Gun runner sentenced to five months in jail

A 50-year-old Mitchellville man was sentenced to five month behind bars for illegally exporting arms to Nigeria.

Bonaface Ibe bought 194 shotguns and a .22-caliber handgun from gun shops around Maryland from 2003 to 2010.

The operation was uncovered after border officials found a shipping container at the Port of Baltimore containing eight shotguns, a .22-caliber handgun and .22-caliber ammunition concealed in a car inside the container. Shotgun ammunition was found in another container.
