Gallaudet student killed in head-on collision A 25-year-old Gallaudet University student was killed in a head-on traffic collision.

Jasmine Jahan Zachery, a senior psychology student at the D.C. school for the deaf, was struck by another car driving the wrong way in downtown Atlanta on Tuesday, according to the CBS affiliate there.

Police said the driver of the other car was drunk and speeding.

Four students injured

in school bus accident

Four children were taken to a hospital after their school bus was struck by a car Wednesday morning, Manassas police said.

The driver of a 2000 Mitsubishi lost control, jumped the median and struck a bus full of Metz Middle School students, said police Sgt. Tim Neumann. Four students suffered minor injuries and were taken to Prince William Hospital.

The driver of the car, Alex Woodard, 49, of Triangle, was charged with reckless driving.

Man gets 39 years for

Father’s Day slaying

A D.C. man was sentenced to 39 years in prison for the 2007 slaying of a father of three.

Joseph Thomas, 25, shot and killed Andrew Brown Jr. at an apartment in Southeast Washington on Father’s Day weekend, then concocted an elaborate plan to blame the murder on a third person, federal prosecutors said.

Thomas was convicted of second-degree murder, obstruction of justice and attempted subornation of perjury.
