A Calvert County man with an open arrest warrant was seriously injured Wednesday when he fell out of a moving van on Interstate 97 in Crownsville, state police said.
George L. Barksdale, 38, was released into state police custody Thursday, said Sgt. Arthur Betts, a police spokesman.
Barksdale, of Lothian, is awaiting pickup by Calvert police for the warrant on theft and handgun charges.
Driver says he crashed into cars in efforts to to escape a carjacker
A driver who crashed into two parked vehicles and ran away on foot Wednesday night said he was the victim of an attempted carjacking, Anne Arundel police said.
The driver, whose name was not released, said he was dropping off a friend at Fairbanks Court in Hanover when two people tried to get him and his friend out of the car.
The driver said he sped forward to escape and hit the cars.
He told police he did not know his friends name or address, and witnesses told police they did not see anyone else at the scene, police said.
