Montgomery County police are asking for help finding a man who frequently travels between Maryland and South Carolina and went missing in the D.C. area last month.
Police said 46-year-old Abdul Soofi was last seen on Feb. 24, when he left his home on the 18000 block of Cottage Garden Drive in Germantown to go to an appointment in Upper Marlboro at about 8 a.m.
But Soofi never made it to Upper Marlboro, and has not been seen since then.
Soofi is from South Carolina but regularly spends time in Montgomery County, police said. Authorities said he has not returned to his residences in either state.
Since Soofi left the Germantown address, he has had no contact with family members and his cellphone has been turned off.
Investigators issued an alert about his disappearance over the weekend. Officer Rebecca Innocenti, a Montgomery County police spokeswoman, said Tuesday that police had no updates on where he might have gone or what might have happened.
Authorities said Soofi is believed to be operating a blue 2006 Toyota Sienna minivan that has the South Carolina license plate GF2913.
Soofi is described as a Pakistani man who is about 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs about 150 pounds. He has gray hair and a mole on his right cheek near his mouth. He wears glasses.
Anyone who has information about his disappearance is asked to call police at 240-773-6237 or 301-279-8000.
