Three charged in Alexandria carjacking

Three people have been arrested after they carjacked a vehicle in Alexandria early Thursday and headed into the District, authorities said.

Mark Comer, 23, Marcus Crouch, 19, and a 17-year-old boy were each charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle and a weapons violation in the District, according to Alexandria police. The three suspects were each also charged in Alexandria with carjacking and possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

About 2:10 a.m., a 24-year-old and a 21-year-old were sitting in a 2004 Nissan Maxima in the 5100 block of Duke Street when the three suspects approached them. One of the suspects displayed a handgun and told the victims to exit the vehicle, police officials said.

A lookout was broadcast and Arlington police located the vehicle traveling northbound on I-395. After a pursuit, Arlington officers got the vehicle to stop on the interstate at the 12th Street exit in the District.

Two of the suspects were apprehended inside the car and the third was apprhended after a short foot pursuit, officials said. A gun was found in the vehicle.

On Thursday afternoon, officials said the suspects were being held in the District. The incident is under investigation and additional charges may be pending.
