Feds: Terrorism suspects had maps of Quantico

Two North Carolina men accused of plotting to kill U.S. military personnel had maps of Virginia’s Marine base at Quantico, federal prosecutors said. An indictment of Daniel Patrick Boyd and Hysen Sherifi said the two had specific targets in mind including Quantico. They and other suspects involved in the plot were allegedly training to gun down military personnel with armor-piercing bullets in the weeks leading up to their July arrest.

Police make arrest in Safeway robberies

D.C. police arrested a man suspected in connection with two robberies at a grocery store. Forty-eight-year-old Quinton Raymond Jones, of the District, was charged with robbery force of violence, assault with intent to rob and a dangerous weapon knife. Police said the robberies occurred at the Safeway store located in the 400 block of 14th Street SE late last month.

Boys shoot occupied van in Lake Ridge

A 14-year-old boy and two 12-year-old boys have been accused of shooting at van with an air gun, Prince William County police said. The boys allegedly shot the van Monday night in Lake Ridge as it neared the intersection of Manchester Way and Knightsbridge Drive in Lake Ridge, police said. The pellets from the air gun broke a window. The driver was not injured. They boys were released into their parents’ custody.

Thief nabs coins from arcade machines

A thief cut through locks and security bars at the Potomac Mills mall in Woodbridge to gain access to more than $200 in coins inside three arcade machines, Prince William County police said. The robbery occurred sometime between Sept. 16 and Sept. 22. There are no known suspects.
