A man claiming to be a Bank of America employee and a man claiming to be a pastor tricked a woman into giving them money in Montgomery County, police said.
on Friday at about 11 a.m., two black men approached a 44-year-old woman in the parking lot of the CVS at 12209 Veirs Mill Road. The men showed her a large sum of money and said they would give it to her if she gave them money from her bank account, Montgomery County police said.
The woman drove with the supects to several ATMs to withdraw money. They returned to the CVS parking lot, and the woman gave the money to the men, police said. The suspects went to a nearby Bank of America and claimed they were going to give the woman the money they had offered her earlier, but instead they disappeared.
Police are urging the public to be on the alert for these types of incidents. Authorities also are encouraging victims of these types of thefts to come forward and report them, even if they are embarassed that they were tricked.
