Trial date set for alleged ‘El Chapo’ associate

CHICAGO (AP) — A trial date has been set in Chicago for a reputed associate of Mexican cartel leader Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman.

A federal judge scheduled the drug-trafficking trial for Feb. 2 during a Wednesday status hearing. Edgar Manuel Valencia Ortega has pleaded not guilty to coordinating the delivery of cocaine shipments from Mexico to the U.S.
