Montgomery County police are looking for leads in the case of a teenage girl who ran away nearly a month ago and has not been seen since.
Police said 16-year-old Ana Landaverde Anorve was last seen Sept. 18 in Spencerville, where she lives.
Since then, no new information has come to light about what happened or where she might be, Officer Janelle Smith, a Montgomery County police spokeswoman, said Tuesday.
Police said they don’t believe foul play was involved in the disappearance, but they’re still concerned about the teen’s welfare. Authorities said she might need medical attention, but did not provide details.
Smith said she had no information about what may have sparked the girl to run away.
Police said Ana may be using several aliases. Those might include Ana Margarita Anorve-Martinez, Ana Anorve, Ana Dolce or other variations of those names, authorities said.
Ana is Hispanic, about 5 feet 1 inch tall and weighs about 120 pounds, according to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. She has brown hair and brown eyes.
Ana was last seen wearing a beige T-shirt and bluejeans.
Police said she may be traveling with a man named Jose Ramirez-Martin, but no further description or other information about him was available.
Anyone with information about the disappearance is asked to call police at 301-279-8000 or 240-773-5400. Tipsters can also contact the Maryland Center for Missing Children at 800-MDS-KIDS (800-637-5437).
