Her remains were found on Sunday in a remote Antelope Valley location, per a police news release.
Zarbab Ali, 25, was arrested on Sunday afternoon in connection to her death. He is the father of Castillo’s two children, ages 5 and 2. Ali had been cooperating with authorities during the investigation, but police said he was the prime suspect in her homicide.
At the time of Castillo’s disappearance, her mother, Robyn Castillo, did not believe that Ali would hurt her and said that the children had been dropped off at their father’s earlier on Thursday. However, police said that the children were present when she disappeared while she was working from home.
