Family thinks P.G. student’s body has been found

Twenty-eight-year-old Ali Osman Khadar went missing a month ago. His family believes the Brentwood resident’s body has been found, but police are hesitant.

A black male with brown eyes and hair, Khadar went missing April 26, two weeks before his graduation from Strayer University.

The body of an unidentified male was found May 22 in Laurel, in a swamp near the 13200 block of Mid Atlantic Boulevard. The family identified the man as Khadar, sighting a “distinctive” tattoo on his left arm of a diabetes shield, said Prince George’s County Police Department spokesman Cpl. Mike Rodriguez.

“The family is saying that he’s been located,” Rodriguez said. “Homicide investigators said they did find an individual in a swamp but they can’t scientifically confirm if he’s Mr. Khadar.”

Khadar weighs 160 pounds and is 5 feet 9 inches tall. He was last seen after class about noon on April 26 wearing jeans and a T-shirt at the 3700 block of 38th Avenue in Cottage City, Md. Khadar suffers from insulin-dependent diabetes and needs medication three times daily.

His 1999 maroon Ford Escort with front- and rear-end damage and Maryland tag 9MD6697 is also missing.

Police said they are waiting to compare dental records of the unidentified male to Khadar’s.

“As of now, he hasn’t been located, we’re just pending the results of identity,” Rodriguez said.
