Rockville man charged in shotgun robbery
Montgomery County Police have arrested a man in connection with an armed robbery of an Aspen Hill gas station.
Luis Portillo, 22, of Rockville, was charged with armed robbery and first-degree assault.
Police said he entered the gas station with a shotgun early Saturday, pointed the gun at an employee and demanded money.
Portillo later that day assaulted a person, police said. That victim told police investigating the assault that Portillo had admitted to the gas station robbery, police said.
Police impersonators shoot man in the neck
Three men posing as police officers tied up a Baltimore couple and shot the husband, authorities said.
The men announced, “Police!” as they kicked in the door around 5 a.m. Monday and bound the 32-year-old man and his wife using plastic flex handcuffs.
When the husband realized that the assailants were not police officers, he resisted and was shot in the neck. He was treated for his injuries and released.
Correction
A June 9 Crime History about the acquittal of Claus von Bulow in the death of his wife incorrectly attributed a quote to von Bulow’s defense attorney, Alan Dershowitz. It was Dershowitz’ former assistant, Jim Cramer, who wrote that von Bulow was “supremely guilty,” not Dershowitz.
