Triple-slaying in apartment remains unsolved

As a child, Elvon Miller bragged about the number of shootings he witnessed. As a young man, Miller himself became a gunshot victim — one of three men killed inside an Northeast Washington apartment nine years ago. The murders of Miller, Daniel Dimoh, Mitchell Johnson in 2002 remains unsolved, and D.C. police are looking for information that can lead to their killer or killers.

It happened around 10:30 p.m. on May 23, 2002. All three were found dead in a second-floor apartment at 105 Franklin St. They had suffered from multiple gunshot wounds to the body and head.

The three men were identified as Miller, 21 years old, and Mitchell Johnson, 25 years old, of the 100 block of Franklin Street, NE, and Dimoh, 21 years old, of the 1500 block of Seventh Street, NW.

Both Johnson and Miller had criminal records. In 1997 Johnson was convicted of carrying a pistol without a license. In 2000 Miller was convicted of selling cocaine.

As a young child, Miller was featured in a Washington Post article about the Metropolitan Boys and Girls Club No. 2 on M Street Northwest. He was nicknamed “Smoke” for his dark complexion and his elusiveness on the gridiron and basketball court.

In the article, the Miller was overheard telling a football teammate, “I’ve seen more people shot than you have.”

There’s a $75,000 reward for information that leads to the capture of whomever killed the three men. Anyone with information is asked to call 202 727-9099.
