Vehicle stolen with

baby on board

D.C. police were searching Thursday for suspects after a mother’s car was stolen with her baby inside. It happened at about 7:30 a.m. near North Capitol and P streets NW. The mother ran back inside her home, leaving her infant son inside. When she returned, the car was gone. Police found the car on the 200 block of N Street NW, with the baby inside.

Deputy arrested for

alleged sex with inmate

A Fairfax County sheriff’s deputy was arrested, accused of having inappropriate contact with a female inmate. Police said James Lee Heinz, 36, was charged with having sex with an inmate, a felony. Police said that from late March 8 into early the next morning, Heinz and the woman allegedly engaged in sex acts. Heinz has worked with the sheriff’s office for two years.

Small plane crashes

near Annapolis

A small plane crash-landed into the South River near Edgewater, injuring the pilot. The crash was reported at about 3:15 p.m. Thursday, said Anne Arundel County fire Lt. Frank Fennell. The pilot was the only person aboard and suffered non-life-threatening injuries, Fennell said.
