Boy pleads guilty in killing of detention center teacher
A teenager has pleaded guilty in the February 2010 killing of an instructor at a Prince George’s County youth detention center. Brian Wonsom admitted to sexually assaulting, beating and strangling 65-year-old Hannah Wheeling at the Cheltenham Youth Facility.
Wonsom, who was 13 at the time of the killing, will be sentenced to life in prison with all but 85 years suspended as part of the plea deal, the Baltimore Sun reported.
Fake police officers pull man over, steal cash
A man was pulled over and robbed by two men impersonating D.C. police officers early Saturday morning.
The victim was driving on the 4800 block of Texas Avenue Southeast around 3 a.m. when he was pulled over by a car with white flashing LCD lights on the dashboard, said police spokesman Officer Araz Alali. Two men armed with handguns and wearing tactical vests marked with the word “police” approached the driver, told him to get out of the car, then stole $400 in cash from him, the man told police.
Investigators are looking for two black males, both around 6 feet tall, both weighing about 170 pounds, both of medium complexion.
Howard University Student missing
A Howard University freshman is missing.
Officials are seeking 17-year-old Arianna Carr, who left her home in Oakland, Calif. and arrived in D.C. Jan. 7 but hasn’t been in touch with family members since.
