Man accused of drowning 3 children changes plea — again

The Rockville man accused of drowning his three children in a Baltimore hotel bathtub changed his plea Tuesday for a fourth time.

Mark Castillo invoked the not criminally responsible defense for a second time, after previously rejecting it.

The change in plea meant another postponement of the trial, and a medical evaluation for 42-year-old Castillo. He had changed his plea before a previous medical evaluation could be completed.

Unlike at some previous Baltimore court hearings, Castillo on Tuesday appeared controlled and clean-cut in front of Judge Gale Rasin.

In his previous court appearance, Castillo mocked Rasin and refused to cooperate with her — and claimed to be riding aboard “The Little Engine That Could.”

His next court hearing is scheduled for April 28.
