Montgomery County firefighters fight Silver Spring blaze

Montgomery County firefighters fought back flames at a townhouse on the 2300 block of Lyttonsville Road in Silver Spring Sunday night.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, they found heavy fire on the second floor. The blaze appeared to have originated in the basement and traveled to different floors of the house, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service spokesman Assistant Chief Scott Graham.

At 8 p.m. Sunday firefighters were in the townhouses on either side of the fire trying to prevent the flames from spreading.

Graham said he did not know if anyone had been injured.
