A man is dead after a shoot-out with a Metro Transit police officer near the New Carrollton stop in Prince George’s County.
The Metro Transit Police officer was in the 7000 block of Lory Lane conducting an investigation into an attempted abduction from a Metro station when he came into contact with an armed man around 12:30 p.m., said Metro spokesman Dan Stessel.
The suspect fired shots at the officer, Stessel said, and the officer fired back. Some of the windows on the officer’s vehicle were shot out.
The suspect was hit and died at the scene. His name was not , but he was described as an adult.
The officer was not injured, Stessel said.
Prince George’s County authorities will be investigating the case, while Metro conducts its own internal investigation, Stessel said. The officer has been placed on administrative duty until the investigations are complete.
