A trial date has been set for a man accused of killing his estranged wife and stepson in Montgomery County.
Court records show that 45-year-old Curtis M. Lopez is scheduled to stand trial in Montgomery County Circuit Court on July 10.
Lopez is accused of stabbing and beating 51-year-old Jane McQuain to death in her Germantown apartment, then picking up 11-year-old William McQuain from a friend’s house and later killing him in a wooded area of Clarksburg. Lopez was arrested in North Carolina on Oct. 13, a day after McQuain was found dead in her apartment. An Amber Alert was issued for William, whose body was found the next week.
Prosecutors say they are considering whether to pursue the death penalty in the slayings.
