A Silver Spring man has been sentenced to five years in prison for distributing and viewing more than 25,000 images of child pornography.
U.S. District Judge Deborah Chasanow sentenced 39-year-old Nestor Gualteros for sharing and possessing the sexually explicit images found on his home and work computers and flash drives.
Gualteros had belonged to social-networking groups that trafficked child pornography since at least April 2009, according to prosecutors and court records. Authorities said investigators found that he distributed more than 900 child pornography images to those groups.
Investigators who searched his belongings also found 1,400 explicit images on his home computer, 800 images and three videos on his work computer, 11,000 images and seven videos on one flash drive, and 12,000 images on another flash drive, court documents say.
He was indicted in April 2011 and pleaded guilty in January.
