ABC has denied that The View is considering a casting change to reflect President-elect Donald Trump‘s supporters.
Despite reports suggesting The View was reevaluating its casting choices a week after Trump’s sweeping win of the popular vote, an ABC spokesperson told the Washington Examiner that the current panel of co-hosts is “resonating” with viewers.
“This report is not true,” the spokesperson told the Washington Examiner. “The View is an opinion-based show featuring a diverse panel of women with different points of view. The current panel is clearly resonating with audiences given that the series just had its highest rated episode in more than a decade and hit a four-year high in total viewers.”
The View, which falls under the ABC News division, despite it being opinion-based, garnered 4.47 million viewers, the highest number of viewers the show has had in over 10 years, for its episode after Election Day. That week, The View averaged 3.078 million viewers.
“The View is facing pressure from higher-ups,” a source had reportedly said. “Viewers can expect some major changes, including bringing in new panelists that can bring in a pro-Trump perspective.”
The View’s recent success in viewership comes as ABC’s news programs are lagging behind in ratings when compared to other news networks. Throughout weekday prime time, Fox News Channel reported 5.4 million viewers during the week of the Nov. 5 election. Fox News beat ABC’s total prime-time viewership of 4.9 million viewers, in addition to CBS and NBC, which saw 4 million viewers.

Leading up to the Nov. 5 election, The View featured several Democratic guests, including President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.
In doing so, the show happened to air some of the worst blunders from Harris and her campaign surrogates. During the show featuring Harris, she told host Sunny Hostin she wouldn’t change anything about how President Joe Biden ran the country. Mark Cuban was also on The View when he suggested that Trump chooses not to surround himself with “strong, intelligent women.”
