Fox News is redoing its lineup, the network announced on Monday. The changes will go into effect on Jan. 18.
“As we kick off a new year, we are excited to announce new changes to our schedule. We have the best-in-class anchors, interviewers, reporters and talent in all of news media. This new powerful lineup ensures FOX News Media will continue to deliver outstanding coverage for our viewers who depend on the most trusted names in the business,” Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott said in a statement.
Bill Hemmer, the former host of America’s Newsroom, who left that show to take over the 3 p.m. hour after Shepard Smith left the network, will now be co-anchoring the show with Dana Perino from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. Hemmer hosted America's Newsroom from the time of the show's inception in 2007 before he transitioned to the afternoon slot about a year ago. Perino, who served as press secretary during the George W. Bush administration, had been hosting The Daily Briefing during the 2 p.m. hour. She will continue to host The Five.
Then, The Faulkner Focus, led by Harris Faulkner, will air for an hour before the midday roundtable show Outnumbered, which will remain in place. Faulkner will continue hosting Outnumbered as well.
Sandra Smith, the current anchor of America's Newsroom, who previously hosted the show with Hemmer, and former network White House correspondent John Roberts will be leading the 1 p.m.-3 p.m. hours with the show America Reports with John Roberts and Sandra Smith. The outlet has not announced who will replace Roberts on the White House beat.
The big lineup change comes during the 3 p.m. hour with Martha MacCallum as the new anchor. Her show previously aired during the 7 p.m. hour, which led into Fox's prime-time lineup of Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity, and Laura Ingraham.
The next part of the day — Your World with Neil Cavuto, The Five, and Special Report with Bret Baier — remains intact.
The slot previously occupied by MacCallum will now be an opinion host who has yet to be named, but the show is called Fox News Prime-time. Brian Kilmeade, one of the hosts of Fox & Friends, will anchor the inaugural episode, according to OutKick. MacCallum is billed as an anchor and not an opinion host, so the decision to transform that hour into an opinion show extends its opinion coverage.
