Gov. Gavin Newsom (R-CA) has joined former President Donald Trump’s social media platform, Truth Social, posting his first “truth” on Wednesday evening.
“Here’s the truth,” he wrote, attaching a video in which he discussed the “red state murder problem.”
“I’ve not been able to find a single explanation for the fact that we have a red state murder problem,” he said. “Eight of the top ten states with the highest murder rates happen to be red.”

“What are the laws and policies in those states that are leading to such carnage?” Newsom continued.
“I just joined Trump’s Truth Social. Going to be on there calling out Republican lies. This could get…interesting. My first post — breaking down America’s red state murder problem,” the governor told his Twitter followers.

Trump’s social media alternative launched Feb. 21 and saw a long waiting list to create an account. The platform is run by Trump Media & Technology Group, which is chaired by Trump. Former Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) serves as CEO.
