Glenn Youngkin dodged a question on whether he will run for president in 2024, instead stating that he is focusing on the current year.

Youngkin was grilled about his 2024 plans on Wednesday morning during an interview on Fox News, but the Republican refused to be drawn into the discussion.

When asked when he will announce his bid for the 2024 presidential race, Youngkin laughed and said he was humbled by “this constant discussion.”

“I am so focused on 2022,” Youngkin said. “I want to be the best Virginia governor that I possibly can.”

Youngkin instead took the time to discuss his recent policies regarding parental involvement in situations concerning transgender students, such as pronouns, preferred names, and bathroom choice.

Students at nearly 100 of Virginia’s public schools staged a walkout on Tuesday in protest of these policies.

He added that he has assisted in Virginia congressional races, mentioning current state Sen. Jen Kiggans, Yesli Vega, and retired Navy Capt. Hung Cao as “great candidates.”

Youngkin said he believes Republican governors have done an “extraordinary job” leading their states during the coronavirus pandemic.

“I’m very focused on 2022 right now, and then we’ll focus on 2023,” he said. “And 2024 is a long way away.”
