Tim Burchett treated for broken rib after horse-kicking incident

Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) went to the hospital on Sunday with a broken rib after a horse kicked him in the chest, according to his office.

“While working on his farm over the weekend, Congressman Burchett was accidentally kicked by a horse. He suffered a broken rib and bruising but hasn’t missed a beat,” said Will Garrett, a spokesman for Burchett.

Burchett’s wife drove him to the hospital, where he was examined and discharged the same day. He has since maintained a normal schedule back in his Knoxville, Tennessee-based district, meeting constituents and party officials with the House on recess for August.

“He spoke in Maury County last night and has a full slate of district events throughout the week,” said Garrett. “There have been no changes to his schedule.”

CAPITOL TEA: TIM BURCHETT’S SKATEBOARDING DREAM

Sunday’s incident, which was not previously reported, is not Burchett’s first injury. In 2012, he broke his wrist in a motorcycle crash after his back tire blew out. At the time, Burchett was the mayor of Knox County.

His daughter also suffered a horse-related injury in 2022, spending time in the intensive care unit after she broke five ribs and her wrist.
