How crimes against Asian Americans are exploited to fund left-wing organizations

Hate crimes against Asian Americans reached record levels in 2021. A recent study revealed a whopping 339% increase compared to 2020. Of particular note, New York City saw a staggering 343% increase in these crimes. In 2022, things are not improving, and government officials deserve some blame.

Under the guise of social justice, left-wing criminal justice reform efforts have focused more on protecting the rights of criminals than the safety and security of law-abiding citizens. This allows those who should be in jail to remain on the streets and commit crime after crime. Consider the criminal records of the assailants behind some of the recent attacks against Asian Americans in New York City.

The perpetrator was arrested 14 times and released prior to this incident. In January, Michelle Go was killed when a mentally ill homeless man pushed her in front of an oncoming subway train in Times Square. Go’s attacker had previously served two separate prison sentences for attempted robbery. Additionally, he was accused of violating his parole at the time of the attack.

Earlier this month, Christina Lee was forced into her home and stabbed more than 40 times by a homeless man with a rap sheet longer than her kitchen knife.

“Senseless crimes victimizing Americans of Asian descent are part of a bigger problem of rising threats to public safety in America’s big cities,” Wenyuan Wu, executive director of Californians for Equal Rights Foundation, told the Washington Examiner. “These threats are a direct result of radical progressive policies including irresponsive restorative criminal justice reforms.”

Yet, instead of fostering accountability or attempting to remedy these horrific situations, left-wing politicians choose political agendas over community security. And, as is often the case, they resort to more government spending and moral grandstanding instead of seeking legitimate, effective solutions. New York Gov. Kathy Hochul is one such example.

Donning a Mandarin collar and Chinese-character parade sash at a recent press conference, Hochul announced funding to assist Asian American organizations throughout the state of New York. The money will be split between the Asian American Federation, Coalition for Asian American Children and Families, and the Chinese-American Planning Council to distribute funds to 59 community organizations.

“The Asian American community was especially hard hit, not only by the virus but by an increase in hate and violent crimes,” Hochul said. “With this $10 million in funding, we are sending a strong message that hate has no home here.”

“Instead of solving the root problem, the political establishment is consuming these tragic incidents and perpetuating the cycle of going easy on criminals and scapegoating innocent citizens,” Wu said. “Look at the politically motivated selection of the Asian American organizations to receive public funds. These are the same groups that erode civil rights and equal rights for their Asian fellows. It is simply a shameless race grift.”

Organizations that receive funding through Hochul’s anti-Asian hate handouts are primarily made up of social justice warriors, pathway citizenship fighters, radicals who want to eliminate jails, and supporters of more homeless shelters for Chinatown and Downtown Manhattan. Benefactors of the new Chinatown cash, such as Adhikaar for Human Rights and Social Justice and Council of Peoples Organization (formerly known as the Council of Pakistan Organization), have “trained hundreds of new leaders; successfully changed policies and created new laws” in the name of social justice. Other benefactors have little to do with the Asian community and promote left-wing ideological pursuits.

The Center for the Integration and Advancement of New Americans is a nonprofit pro-DACA organization. CIANA helps illegal immigrants from the Middle East, North Africa, and Latin America. Additionally, the Caribbean Equality Project services “Blacks and Browns Queer and Trans undocumented immigrants” seeking asylum. Another, Refugees Helping Refugees, was initially created to provide “education, training, and support” for refugees of all races living in Western New York.

Desis Rising Up and Moving calls Rikers Island a “Torture Chamber” that must be shut down forever. The group claims new jails are “opportunities that lead to increasing policing and criminalization for communities of color.” Instead, DRUM demands mental health centers and real housing for the homeless to be built. This does nothing to help stop crime.

Asian American victims are being exploited as pawns to fund organizations with radical left-wing agendas. Putting more criminals on the street makes things worse for Asian Americans, not better. However, this runs counter to left-wing criminal justice orthodoxy. Instead, Hochul has prioritized ideology over security, doubling down on pushing policies that work against protecting Asian Americans. As the bodies of murders pile up in the streets, all that matters is advocating these horrific criminal justice reform policies — no matter how many Asian Americans have to suffer as a result.
