At least nine top-ranked American universities send students to a Cuban school tied to Cuba’s intelligence apparatus to learn about Marxism and other regime-approved topics.

Cuba’s University of Havana has built student exchange agreements with seven Ivy League schools and two others ranked among U.S. News and World Report’s top 15 institutions, a Washington Examiner investigation found. The state-controlled campus is “a key node in the Cuban intelligence network” through which the regime forms relationships in academia for recruitment and espionage, the State Department warned in a July 20 report on Cuba’s anti-American activities. A statement by Indiana State University indicated the Havana school had “nearly eighty” agreements with U.S. colleges in 2023, the department noted.
